How do we do this?

Now for the nuts and bolts of the display, By far this year 2013  is  our biggest displays ever!

We counted just over 2000,000 lights and it adds up fast. The walls are covered from end to end with LED green lights. Total boxes used where 192 boxes or 19,200 lights.

IMG_6103 In 2012 Hyatt Extreme went Green so Power Management is much easier.  However prior to  using LED Lights, I am asked the question, how do you keep that many lights to stay on without blowing out the fuses? IMG_6108It takes time to think about but there is a solution, first, you cannot run more than 4 boxes of lights linked together. So at the end of 4 boxes we reverse then and run 4 backwards. Then an extension cord is inserted at that point. This process is repeated all the way down the wall until the wall is complete.Ferris Wheel Base 1

 ferris wheel base 11-08

ferris wheel close up how to Next is the Ferris wheel, it was created out of ¾ inch PVC with elbows to make a octagon shape and is powered with a chain driven by a 4 horsepower eclectic motor.

Same process is used on the giant Christmas tree, with a little twist. To make the tree look real and not stake all those lights into the ground we use PVC and make a circle with legs about 24 inches high and attach the lights to it for a clean edge to the tree. Hyatt Extreme Mega Tree of Lights

lolipops Florida College Lolipops Next would be the fence that has 78 boxes of Red and Green nets lights on it. To be safe we only do 3 sets of net on every run. That allows us to put over 10,800 lights in a single run. This has been a favorite to many people that visit the display.  painting workshop

painting workshop 2The Nativity scene is different because this portion of the Christmas Display is only in White Lights and features Flying Angels and a Computerized set of Angel Carolers.

We built and grandstand and wired all the carolers and angels together for a look that is unmatched.

There are almost 400 amps running into the home with a separate fuse box that controls the whole display.

Guys, I have a question for you. When you say that you string only 4 boxes of lights together does that mean per extension cord? Or do you do 4 together – plug that group into the extension cord, 4 more together, plug that group into the extension cord, and so on. When you say you get over 10,000 lights on a single run – what is a run?

I just met you last evening and the display was impressive. I would love to stay in touch with you and hear more about the display and the things that you do to add to it. As we talked a bit last night, I have a little display as well with a little light show. I have some ideas that I would like to do to mine as well in the upcoming years.

Please contact me as soon as you can so that we can stay in touch and talk about upcoming items for our christmas displays.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Thanks.

My daughter and her husband do not live far from you in Plantation. They came to your display and were amazed. I am a Christmas light nut as well. I ahve been bulding my display the past 3 years with blow molds and led lights. My next step is to build more things myself and put lights with them. I too would like a display large enough to have people come by and donate to a childrens charity. Do you build most of your display yourself? Very impressed. I hope to get down there on a visit one year to see it.

Awesome display as usual. We love it. I am working to get there but it does take time.

Spoke with you tonight about the electrical part of your display. Can you send me the name and number of the electrician that you used.

Also, would love for you guys to come by one night and take a look at my display and offer suggestions and stuff. Mine can be seen at 12510 NW 10th Street, Sunrise, FL. 33323. It runs through Dec 25th.

Would also like to ask how I can get into the extreme house Christmas loop of people. I love this stuff. Christmas is my holiday has always been.

My e-mail address is jamesvh@mindspring.com if you wish to send me an e-mail.

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks again.
