Questions we Get

  • How many Lights do you Have?

For 2009, we totaled at 150k

For 2010. we totaled at 165k

For 2011, we totaled at 180k

For 2012, we totaled at 185k

For 2013, we are Proudly totaling at 200k Lights!!!

  • How much is your Electric Bill?

No doubt about it, It is HIGH!  However it is for only a couple of  months.  In the past it would go up roughly $1,000 to $1,500 monthly, however in 2012 Hyatt Extreme went Green!!  What that means is that Power Consumption is now considerably lower…  almost by half!! Thanks to LED Technology.

  • How Long does it take to set up the Display?

We start thinking about it in July, What can we add or do differently

Planning in August,  Drawing out a Map, Figure out Power Managememt, What will this cost

Prepping the Property in September,  Pressure Clean the House & Roof, Paint,  Cut the Trees, Trim the Hedges.  Repair Items such as Blowmolds of our Reindeers, Snowman, ect…  Construct the different Display Items,  such as the Nativity Manager, Santa’s Workshop, Santa’s Candy & Toy Store.  Pull out the Ferris Wheel  things like that.

In October everything starts coming out and we are ready to Welcome Everyone the day after Thanksgiving.

Where do you store all of this?

Christmas is Everywhere.

In the Garage, The Attic, The House, Most of the  Closets, and of course The Shed.  You should see under our Bed.

  • How much does all this cost?

Tough one to answer, we have been collecting for so many years.

Many of the items we have Just are not made anymore.  We hand make many items like our Lollipops and Candy Canes.  Ebay is also a good place to search for items too.

  • Your Display is Incredible, however it must  take a lot of Time & Attention to Detail not to mention the Finances.  Why do you do this?

That is easy… For the Children of the World, both Big and Small.  We are building Family Memories and Holiday Traditions that people will remember their entire lives.  The Joy, Smiles and Happiness we see on everyone face’s makes all that we do that much more special.

  • What do your Neighbors think?

Depends on who you ask,  however most of them enjoy as much as we do.

Our neighbors across the Street hosts a Great Big Party each year as they have the BEST VIEW of our Home. Their Party Guests Love it!!  They get the VIP Tour of course…

  • What are you planning for the future?

Only Santa Knows

  • Where do you get ideas from?

We go to Christmas Conventions each year, we love Disney World, see lots Movies, ect..

Our Kids have great ideas too!

  •  How did you go about choosing what Charity to Support and Collect Donations on  behalf of?  There are so many?

Great Question,  it is never easy to decide as there are so many worthwhile organizations helping people but not as many helping the animals.  Our Family has never paid monies for any of our pets & have always believed in Adoption.  Animals can’t speak and every animal deserves a life with compassion.

Since we live in an Equastrian Neighborhood in Year’s past we had shared the monies with the City to support the Horses!  Below is an Article I Posted a Couple of Years ago I hope everyone can  respect and live by.

  • Do you worry about Vandals?

No, the entire display has a fence around it and we have 2 large dog too.  We have also have an Elaborate Audio and Video Surveillance System  on the entire property and immediate street just to make sure “All is Well”.

We are also Thankful for “Team Hyatt Security”

    Lisa Says:

Have you ever thought of setting up an area where the light go in time with the music?

    • Thanks for the question Lisa, we really like the “Lights to Music” and every year we think about doing that, however the cost for the equipment and computers is pretty high and you need a lot of time, patience and dedication in order to program each and every strand of light and musical notes. Who knows, perhaps one year. Thanks again for your question.

A friend of mine sent me your website and I came to see your Home last night and met you both. I think you both are just Super People and give you both Big Gold Stars *** in spreading Joy and Good Wishes to so many people. Kimberly & Mike Says:

We just wanted to say thanks again for providing such a wonderful experience for all the children who are fortunate to be able to share in your joy during the holiday season. We literally have to hold our kids back, because they beg to go see the “really really cool house” every single night! We don’t want to become pesky neighbors. 🙂

Thanks for the personal video showing the other night – the little ones loved it! We’ll see you over the weekend, I’m sure.

I’m sure everything is beautiful…when the lights are turned on. Sadly, tongiht, they weren’t. I know it was raining a little…but…but…we drove all the way there and NOTHING! Bah, Humbug!

    • Hi Jennifer,
I know we are sad too, it is Saturday Night. The water causes all kinds of electrical problems, however typically after it rains the weather should be nice the next day. We hope you can come by again.

    Dawna Says:

Do you allow people to walk through? Or to view from the other side of the fence? I would love to bring my two small children, and nieces to see the spectacular display. 🙂

    • Yes, we Welcome everyone into our Christmas Display and provide refreshments for all who enter, however it is only until December 23rd. On Christmas Eve the 24th, the gates will shut so we may enjoy Christmas with our own family, however the lights will remain on until Sunday the 27th. Hope you can come by. Merry Christmas

    Scottie Says:

You’re display is absolutely breathtaking! but I was wondering, how did you make your Ferris Wheel? I have a display myself that I made for my mom, and I wanted to build her a Ferris Wheel for her winter carnival section, yours is the kind that i invisioned. Is it very hard to make?

  23. 27
    havenzhang Says:

    It’s really a great job!
You do it just because of your love to children, I really appreciated it!
I have a suggestion: Maybe you can think of choosing solar lights to replace the tradition ones since solar lights would help save a large amount of money. Especially in a long run.
It’s not because I’m a sales of the solar light that i suggest this, but because i’m more familiar with solar lights and I know that they are more energy saving, more safty(no wire so reduce any danger that might cause by the wire),and more flexible in intalling.
You can take this suggestion in record, and after fully use up the existing ones, you can take out this suggestion and think of the solar ones.
    Hope it could be helpful.

    Sandy Says:

Also, would love to talk to you further about your display.

    Leslie Says:

I have people down from Pensacola (a 10 hour drive) and couldn’t wait to show them your display. We were sorely disappointed to see that the display was closed. Would you consider leaving it up until the New Year? That seems to be the unofficial end of the Christmas Season. Thanks for the time we could see it but WE WANT MORE! =)

    • Hello Leslie,

Thanks for coming to see Hyatt Extreme Christmas, we are sorry it was closed when you came by. On the very first page of the Website is has the “Operating Hours and Dates”. This is a Private Residential Display that we host to everyone that comes by and It takes an incredible amount of Time, Love and Energy to do this. We close down just a few days after Christmas so we may spend time with our Loved Ones. We hope to see you this year in 2011, we have some great things coming out.

    Nathalie Jones Says:

    Hello Hyatt Family:

I would like to thank you for taking the time to put your display together for the children (young and old). My husband and I drove down from Coconut Creek to view this highly noted display. When we arrived we were pleasantly suprised and our children were in awe during our walk through. I especially appreciated the conversation with Mrs. Hyatt and the manner that she was very thrilled and pleasant while discussing this beautiful work. We plan to continue to bring our children to this location year after year until you retired or when they out-grow it. I definately consider this one of Ft. Lauderdale’s MOST Extreme Christmas displays…LOVED IT!!

    Bonnie Says:

    Nancy Murphy Says:

Hello, I also would like to thank you so much for your magical place. My 7 year old daughter LOVES you house! I love that you include the real reason for the season having it prominently displayed – it really is magnificent!

Also love the Pet 10 Commandments above. We recently adopted a cat from the Humane Society and these are great to see.

Mark asked us to post a note and he might be able to send a copy of a picture he took where we were sitting on the couch in front of the garage near the cookies (thank you for that too!) I believe he spoke with Denis about the beautiful cars and Denis wanted to bring over one of Mustangs. (We were there Friday evening, 12-16-2011.)

Thank you and may God bless you over this Christmas season and wishing you a joyous new year in 2012!

Could you let me know if you have a photo I can use for a Boston Globe article on light displays? Please email me directly, asap, at diane AT thanks!

    Paul Cresswell Says:

Have you considered dropping the ‘extreme’ part of your name, and instead call your display ‘Hyatt Christmas Celebration’? I think the ‘extreme’ tag can antogonise some people; ‘celebration’ is a much more postive title to use.

  38. 45

Just spoke with you tonight through the gates.. I inquired about the Pop-Up Santa that was on the basketball court.. Would love to keep in touch in case you ever change your mind.
    Thank you Sir
